Kestrel helps build strong communities
The concept is called “New Urbanism”. We call this neighborliness and common sense. Kestrel wants to help you and your community to get there.
How we strengthen communities
When your community builds Kestrel Zero Energy Homes, you’re getting more than a great place to live. A Kestrel home’s heating, cooling and electricity costs will be a small fraction of a business-as-usual home. That means less money is spent on utility bills and more money is spent on things that you want.
That means more for your community as less money is spent on fossil and nuclear fuels and more money is kept in the local economy. That means more money can be spent on eating out, going to the movies, buying clothes, or just about anything you want. As more and more homes are built with low utility costs, more money in the community can mean more local jobs, stronger local businesses and a better local economy.
Kestrel will do more than just build great homes. We will work with your government and community leaders to help revitalize your neighborhoods. We want to build both market-rate and affordable market homes in existing neighborhoods (called “infill” development). This cuts down on sprawl, needless driving around and pollution.
Infill development will also save on tax dollars, using existing roads, utilities and other infrastructure. We want to see downtowns revitalized and people having the choice of walking, bicycling, using public transit. We want people to have the choice of nearby shopping, going to school, houses of worship and other amenities.
